How to Use Clove Oil for Mold Removal
- Create a Clove Oil and Water Spray. To make a simple mold-fighting solution, combine 24 drops (1/4 tsp) of pure Clove Essential Oil with 1 litre of water. For best results, avoid making the mixture too concentrated, as this could damage surfaces. Always perform a patch test on a discreet area first. You can use either 100% Pure Clove Bud Oil or Clove Soluble Oil (which mixes well with water) — if using Clove Soluble Oil, double the amount to 48 drops per litre of water.
- Combine Clove Oil with Vinegar. Vinegar is another excellent natural cleaner that complements Clove Oil's powerful antimicrobial effects. To create a potent mold-removal spray, mix ⅓ cup white vinegar, ⅓ cup distilled water, 3 drops Tea Tree Oil, and 11 drops Clove Essential Oil. Shake together, then spray on the affected areas. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before wiping clean.
- Add Clove Oil to Your Laundry. For fabrics or clothing affected by mold, add a few drops of Clove Oil to your regular washing detergent to help remove the mold while leaving a fresh, pleasant fragrance.
- Use Clove Oil to Clean Your Washing Machine. If your washing machine has mold, add around 10 drops of Clove Oil directly into the drum and run a hot cycle (60°C or above) to help kill any lingering mold or spores.
- Check Hidden Areas for Mold. Mold doesn't always grow in obvious spots — inspect bathroom tiles, grout, window sills, and under sinks, where mold is likely to thrive. Regular checks help prevent major mold build-up.
Caution: Clove Oil can be a skin irritant — avoid direct skin contact, keep out of reach of children, and do not use on children under 2 or during pregnancy.
